Programs

CoSA’s programs advance the work of state and territorial archives through training, research, advocacy, and collaborative initiatives. Each program is designed to address the evolving challenges of managing government records while supporting the professionals who steward them. Together, these efforts strengthen the preservation of our documentary heritage and promote effective records management nationwide.

State Electronic Records Institute (SERI):
Our flagship program dedicated to improving electronic records management across state and territorial governments. SERI provides training, tools, leadership development, and community support to help archives build capacity in managing digital information.

Advocacy & Outreach:
CoSA promotes the essential role of government archives through national advocacy efforts, awareness campaigns like Electronic Records Day, and partnerships that highlight the importance of preserving public records.

Professional Development & Training:
Through webinars, Chatting with Colleagues sessions, affinity groups, and specialized working groups, CoSA offers year-round opportunities for members to learn from one another, build new skills, and stay informed about emerging issues.

Annual Meeting:
CoSA’s Annual Meeting brings together members and stakeholders from across the country to share knowledge, explore new approaches, and collaborate on shared challenges in archives and records management.

Research & Resources:
CoSA develops and maintains practical tools—including the ARM Survey, best practices guides, and an evolving Resource Center—to support the daily work of state archives professionals.
